Job Description
We are looking for an Expert Application Engineer specializing in Quality to join Discover Financial Services, a global leader in digital banking and payments. As part of our agile delivery teams, you will be involved in refining and testing requirements, as well as building automated regression test suites to ensure the delivery of high-quality applications into production. This role involves driving strategic technology decisions, contributing to the external image of Discover Technology, and shaping learning paths for engineers.
Responsibilities
- Research new technology opportunities for enhanced technical capabilities.
- Drive strategic technology decisions through collaboration with external experts.
- Contribute to shaping the external image of Discover Technology as a desired workplace.
- Act as a thought leader and participate in internal and external technology communities.
- Bring back learning experiences to benefit Discover's engineers' learning paths.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related fields.
- Internal applicants should have a technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus engineering scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Cloud Technologies, preferably AWS.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining APIs, containerized applications/services, and IaaS.
- Skills in programming languages such as Java and/or Python.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional customer service, collaboration, communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Knowledge in Golang, React, Node.js, and risk management is a plus.
