Job Description
Join the Boone County Fiscal Court as a Fleet Services Mechanic in the Public Works Department. This challenging position involves maintaining vehicles and equipment for the county, ensuring they are in optimal condition and ready for use. The Fleet Services Mechanic will work closely with the Fleet Services Shop Leader and other departments to support the county's operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, brake systems, and steering systems.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle and equipment maintenance for reporting purposes.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity of county vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with shop facility maintenance and cleanliness, including tool organization and supplies management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with significant experience in automotive maintenance.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- ASE Certification in Automotive Repair and Heavy Duty Truck Repair preferred.
- Valid Kentucky driver's license and Class A commercial driver's license (or ability to obtain within one year).
Skills
- Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines and automotive equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with county personnel and other agencies.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands
- Regularly lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Operate motor vehicles and carry heavy items like batteries and tires.

Compensation
Hourly wage range: $22-$22
