Infrastructure Engineer (Oracle DBA)

Job Description

We are looking for a talented and motivated Infrastructure Engineer (Oracle DBA) to join our team at Discover Financial Services. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a crucial role in guiding engineering deliverables, determining technology patterns, and fostering the adoption of new technologies within the company. Responsibilities

• Lead technology communities and contribute to achieving product commitments.
• Utilize automation, open-source solutions, and 'security first' principles in daily work.
• Participate in team agile ceremonies, demos, presentations, and coaching new engineers.
• Initiate high-level solution design approaches and guide the team in achieving key software delivery capabilities.
• Support research activities to adopt new technology solutions and continue professional education.
• Work collaboratively in a team player mentality towards common goals.
• 24x7 on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or related areas.
• Internal applicants require a technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience in solving complex database query performance issues.
• Passion for addressing complex application-related database performance challenges.
• Deep understanding of partitioning, query execution plan optimization, and table/data structure.
• Knowledge of PL/SQL, Oracle Multitenant Container Database, Oracle RAC, and Oracle DataGuard/GoldenGate.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata hardware and managing critical incident issues.
• Knowledge of DevOps/Agile environments and JIRA is a plus.

Compensation

Base pay ranges between $86,500.00 to $146,100.00 with additional incentives as part of a competitive compensation package based on location, experience, education, and skill level.
