Job Description
We are looking for a Solid Waste Driver I to join our team at the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin Co AL. As a Solid Waste Driver, you will be responsible for picking up, transporting, and safely disposing of garbage and waste materials on scheduled routes. This role involves supervising Solid Waste Technicians and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with safety regulations.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide pick up and safe disposal of refuse and waste materials.
- Complete routes in a timely manner within a 40-hour workweek.
- Operate communication devices for instructions.
- Ride on the back of garbage trucks when required.
Supervision
- Accept responsibility for garbage truck and cargo.
- Prepare reports and maintain vehicle records.
- Supervise Solid Waste Technicians.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver's license, Class 'B' minimum.
- Successful completion of pre-employment screenings.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in operating assigned vehicle.
- General knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
Physical Characteristics
- Ability to operate vehicle, lift heavy objects, and withstand various environmental conditions.
Compensation: $17.73 - $29.06 per hour
