Responsibilities

• Promote professionalism and maintain a cooperative working environment.
• Ensure specimens are obtained following laboratory guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with care providers about patient data or lab samples.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Demonstrate competency in following protocols and procedural directions.
• Organize workload efficiently and assist coworkers for productivity.
• Follow proper packaging and transport protocols for specimens.
• Handle patient registration, lab test ordering, specimen processing, and distribution.
• Practice infection control, patient identification, and timely specimen transport.
• Perform drug screen collection and processing as required.
• Answer laboratory department calls and coordinate phlebotomy schedules.
• Act in courier duties when assigned.
• Recognize emergent conditions and respond appropriately.
• Provide professional phlebotomy services in a patient-centered manner.
• Evaluate own practice for continuous improvement.
• Ensure quality care delivery and contribute to the growth of the lab.
• Perform laboratory tests following policies and procedures.
• Prepare laboratory equipment for testing and assist other lab personnel.
• Complete assigned duties efficiently and contribute to teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomist certification upon hiring (preferred).
• Medical lab assistant certification within 2 years of hire (preferred).
• Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.
